Eagles WW2 Day
19th November 2020
Eagles took part in a World War 2 Day today following their class trip being cancelled. The children dressed up as children from the 1940s and took part in lots of WW2 activities: creating cardboard air raid shelters within a garden; playing typical Street Games from the 1940s; preparing and cooking ration recipes of Eggless Sponge and Potato & Cheese Dumplings; singing Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again'; making paper aeroplane Spitfires; constructing gas mask boxes; eating sherbet lemons as an example of sweets from 1940s; taking shelter under tables when hearing the air raid siren; and creating Blitz 'cityscapes'. The children had a great time and showed great enthusiasm and creativity.
