October 2020 Blog

As part of the 'Fire! Fire!' topic in Falcons, we have been making Tudor houses to paint and decorate with flames. Today, children have been adding detail to their houses using black paper to show wooden beams. We have examined the difference between houses in 1666 and today, and discussed why a great fire might have spread more easily in 1666 than 2020. Next, we will add some straw to the roofs to make them look thatched! Why not ask a Falcon about the differences between Tudor and modern houses?
Falcons have been authors this week as they finished their writing unit based around 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers! They have planned their own amazing stories, edited their writing and written them up to take pride of place on the 'personal best' wall. Today they were using their skills to predict what might happen if there was a sequel to the story. They thought about what would become of all the other items which were still stuck in the tree before writing down their ideas.
