Eagles class were given the challenge of separating a mixture of materials, using their knowledge of evaporation, filtering, sieving and magnetism. Each group were given a mixture of water, rice, salt and a paper clip. The children then planned their strategy to separate the materials without using their hands to take materials out. We will now wait until next week to see whether or not the salt water will evaporate in the classroom and leave just the salt in the pots.
Eagles Class played a writing skills game to practise composing, editing and moving clauses within a sentence. They scored points for each successful alteration to their sentence. The children enjoyed the game and demonstrated great understanding of clauses and word classes within their writing.
