This week the Little Owls have been exploring space!  We have role played travelling in a rocket, made rockets from junk modelling, used marble painting to make planets and made our very own moon rocks!
The Little Owls have been comparing planes old and new, alongside hot air balloons and helicopters.  We looked closely at pictures and talked about propellers and engines. 
 
This week there has been a lot of water play as the Little Owls explored boats, floating and sinking.  The children chose objects from around the room to test and made their predictions, sink or float? 
The Little Owls have been thinking about Spring.  We have looked for daffodils and found out the names of some baby animals.  We planted some cress seeds.  The children knew that we would usually plant seeds in soil and that they needed rain to help them grow.  We listened to instructions really well, making sure the cotton wool was nice and damp and sprinkled on the seeds.  We talked about how plants also need sunlight to help them grow.  We placed our seeds in the window to get some sunlight.
