June 2023

The Little Owls have been investigating minibeasts this week.  We have listened to stories including ‘what the ladybird heard on holiday, the very busy spider and the very quiet cricket’.  We have looked closely at minibeasts through small world play, a bug hunt and even placed some pretend ones in ice for us to free with our physical skills.
This week the children have been thinking about jungle animals.  We have listened to Monkey Puzzle and the tiger. who came to tea.  We made animals in the dry sand, made animal footprints with paint, and of course, lots of water play to help cool off!
The Little Owls are very excited about some new resources that have arrived for our outdoor area!  Our activity cube is great for climbing but the children have really enjoyed using it as a den and for imaginative play; “we’re on the train, get on board, off we go!”  We’ve also been exploring sound with our new boomwhackers and singing rhymes as we play.
