The Little Owls were very excited to be back at Nursery and have settled into the routine after a lovely Christmas break.  We shared the story 'How to Catch a Star', and the children had their own ideas about how they might catch their own star, including climbing up a rope or a tree!  We explored a variety of star themed activities and had a go at building our own rockets.

The Little Owls have continued to think about stars, exploring a variety of activities and media to create some whilst developing our physical skills.  We have also thought about light and dark, using a light box to explore objects to see if light travels through them.

The Little Owls have been learning about dinosaurs this week.  We have been comparing dinosaur bones, making dino prints with paint and following dinosaur tracks in the outdoor area.  We have also been learning about shapes and we carefully chose the right ones to match the dinosaur templates.

The Little Owls have continued with their dinosaur theme this week.  We have used our physical skills to free dinosaurs from ice and hardened gloop using spoons and hammers.  We carefully brushed sand aside to reveal dinosaur bones and compared their sizes.  We painted some dinosaurs and then scrubbed them clean with soapy water and tooth brushes.  We have also been developing our knowledge of 2D shapes and recognising some in the environment.
