Online Safety
Online safety (or e-safety) is a vital part of keeping children safe at Harbertonford Church of England Primary School.
We are committed to helping children learn how to use technology safely and responsibly, both in school and at home.
We are committed to helping children learn how to use technology safely and responsibly, both in school and at home.
Keeping Children Safe in School
We have robust security systems in place, monitored both internally and externally, to safeguard pupils from potential online risks or unsuitable material.
Any online safety concerns are recorded and managed in line with our safeguarding procedures.
Online safety is taught at least half-termly as part of our computing and PSHE curriculum. Through lessons, assemblies and discussions, children learn how to:
-
Recognise potential risks online
-
Protect their personal information
-
Communicate safely and respectfully
-
Know what to do if something makes them uncomfortable
Working Together with Parents and Carers
We can only keep children safe online by working in partnership with parents and carers. It’s important to continue these conversations at home — talking to your child about what they do online, who they interact with, and how to use the internet positively and responsibly.
No search engine or online platform is ever 100% safe, but there are many helpful resources to guide and support families. Below you’ll find links to trusted organisations offering advice, practical tools, and up-to-date information.
