This week the Little Owls have been thinking about space.  We listened to the story 'Whatever Next' and role played baby bear traveling to space in a cardboard box.  We used shapes to build rockets with a variety of construction toys and carried out an experiment to create a 'galaxy' effect.
This week the Little Owls have been exploring how we can travel in the air.  Some of us have shared our experiences of traveling by plane, some of us remembered a helicopter landing in the school field and we were particularly fascinated by hot air balloons.  We were also very excited to take part in a martial arts PE lesson.  We played musical statues and had to freeze in 'horse', 'snake',  'crane' or 'mantis' poses!
The Little Owls explored which objects were attracted to magnets and which were not.  The children made predictions and then tested them out.  They discovered that the objects that were attracted to the magnets were metal, except a plastic shape - that had a magnet in it!  We are keen to find out now if all metal objects are attracted to magnets!
